Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state has boasted that he will take over power from President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2019 election.

The governor made the statement when he informed the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) about his intention to contest for the position of president of Nigeria under the party’s platform in 2019.

The governor in a letter addressed to the leadership of the party stated that he will formally declare his presidential ambition on Thursday, September 28, at the Golden Hall, Chelsea Hotel in Abuja at 11am.

The special assistant to the governor on public communications and new media, Lere Olayinka in a statement made available to NAIJ.com on Thursday, September 26, stated that Fayose in the letter to the party said his ambition to be president was without prejudice to the party’s position, but in the overall interest of the party and Nigeria.

The letter read: “It is with deep sense of responsibility that I write to inform you of my intention to seek the ticket/mandate of our party to contest the 2019 Presidential election, considering your support and commitment towards our great party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) it becomes imperative to keep you informed and seek your support.

“This ambition, however, is without prejudice to our party’s position, but in the overall interest of the party and our country. “I urge that all hands should be on deck to ensure victory at the 2019 presidential election.

“Accept the assurances of my highest regards as a determined presidential hopeful.” “I have (a) penchant for taking powers; that one in Buhari’s hand, I will take it. I’m going straight to that Villa. I’m the next president."

Meanwhile, the Katsina state chapter of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), on Saturday, September 23, endorsed President Muhammadu Buhari and the state governor Aminu Masari for a second term.

NAIJ.com gathered that the state chairman, Shittu S. Shittu, said the party's decision was informed by their well-laid policies and programmes that have impacted positively on the lives of the people. Shittu said the party did not recognise any faction, noting that factionalisation is contrary to the provision of the constitution of the party. The party said it has unanimously endorsed the candidature of the duo in the forthcoming 2019 general election.
