- Junaid Mohammed said President Buhari's Independence Day speech was dishonest
- The former lawmaker said there was nothing unique in it
- He said millions of Nigerians were unaware of the agricultural policies the president was talking about Junaid Muhammed who is a second republic lawmaker has criticised President Muhammadu Buhari’s Independence Day speech accusing him of lying about his agricultural policies.
The Punch reports that the lawmaker was reacting to the president’s speech delivered on Sunday, October 1.
Muhammed said there was nothing unique in the president’s speech and that he was even dishonest. He said the agricultural policies mentioned by the president were not true. He said: “Frankly speaking, the speech is not realistic.
There is nothing and there was nothing meant to be spectacular or unique about the speech of the 57th anniversary. “It is celebratory. Where we have a leader who is articulate or is in a firm control of the government, the speech could have been an avenue to mobilise and regain the confidence of the people.
“As far as I am concerned, there is nothing in the speech to energise, galvanise or persuade me. “The government muddled up a speech that should be about matters of national importance with personal reminiscences of being a young officer. This romantic lamentation does not have a place in this speech. “Some of the claims the President made were clearly dishonest. For example, he claimed that his agricultural policies have been a success.
As far as I am concerned, that cannot be true because I don’t even know the policies. “If I don’t, I am sure millions of other Nigerians don’t know too. When you see the functionality of a policy, you know it is working.” Meanwhile, Chief Mike Ozekhome who is a constitutional lawyer and a right activist lashed out at President Buhari saying he has shown his hatred for the Igbo race.
Vanguard reports that in a statement issued by the lawyer on Sunday, October 1, he criticised the president’s Independence Day speech saying it confirmed his fixated hatred for the Igbos. The lawyer wondered why the president did not criticise the activities of Fulani herdsmen and the quit notice issued to Igbos in the north.
