What causes a person to commit adultery? The question does not have a unique answer, since several factors can cause someone to betray his partner. A study published in the Journal of Sex Research, incidentally, found that there are 7 main reasons why people are unfaithful.

1. Lack of love: According to the survey, 77% of respondents who committed adultery claimed that they were unfaithful because they no longer love their partners.
2. Variety: Some respondents also revealed that they "jumped the fence" because they were looking for a wider variety of sexual partners.
3. Lack of commitment: 41% said they were unfaithful because they did not really feel committed to their partners.
4. Occasion: Situational factors such as excessive alcohol consumption, for example, were the "excuse" for betrayal cited by 70% of study participants.
5. Self-esteem: more than half of the interviewees (57%) mentioned that the main motivation to betray was insecurity and the attempt to increase self-esteem
6. Anger: 43% of people surveyed said they committed adultery for revenge or being angry with their partners.
7. Sex Only: About one-third of participants said they were unfaithful simply because they felt the need to have more sex.
